I am clapping for myself now because I shattered my goals last week: still drinking 8 or more glasses/water daily, eating more protein in the morning, and exercising past my “personal goals”. Last week I exercised 5 times. Twice I did 45 min, twice 55 min, and the last time 65 min. HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!
I am nervous to announce that because I surpassed my exercise goals the past two weeks; I am going to up the bar. My goal this week is to exercise 5 times- three of those workouts being 60 min or more. Can I do it? I am hoping so. NO JANET — YOU WILL DO IT! I finished one exercise today already, but didn’t hit the 60 min mark. I am afraid I will fail. I have to let my positive self talk take over.
Although this is only the beginning of week 3, I feel so much better. My clothes are fitting differently and my energy is much higher. I am not feeling guilty for leaving my family to go exercise like I thought I would. I believe this is in part to me enjoying them more when I am with them. They have dedicated time with me while I am at home and understand I need to get healthy. Of course, in my daughters’ minds, if I fail at this, I will go onto the Biggest Loser and be gone for a long time. My oldest has even told me “Mom…you look less fat!” Gotta love how they say what is on their minds! But, I did eat up that compliment!
Well, besides my exercise goal, another goal of mine is to do some nutritional research. A book that was mentioned to me– “The Healthiest Kid on the Block” will be my first read. And just so you all know — I hate, no despise, nutrition. I hated my nutrition class in college and hate it to this day. It is going to take a lot for me to get this book in my hands. I like “nutritional” information to be spoon fed to me. BUT, I need to take more accountability on this aspect. Hence, the dreaded research.
I also want to get in with my trainer for help with a “weight lifting” plan of attack. The concern lingering for me is do I count my weight strengthening time as part of my exercise? Hmm, I don’t think I am as it is not cardio….what do you guys out there do?
I would like to stay and chat, but my wonderful hubby and I need some us time. You all have a wonderful night and I will catch you up soon!
